One of the genre's founding figures, Czech Republic-based death/thrashers Master has literally been at the forefront of the style from the very beginning being brutal Death Metal. Excellent. 

5.- Flayst "Burning Eden"

Melodic Death Metal in the "Goteborg" vein scene, with sound of old memories scene this guys from Switzerland are performance one most brilliant debut of the year, the guitars are amazing and hypnotic.

Another gruelling year of heavy metal mastery is almost over! From Overijssel, Netherlands  we have a Doom and Brutal Death Metal in the same parts, the lyrics looks like from Horror movies, the guitars and vocals are amazing.  

7.- Brutality "Sea Of Ignorance" 

Tampa, Florida's death metal stalwarts Brutality return, and they're just not back, they're back with a death metal in the vein of  'Old School', the guitars, the vocals, the sound and productions breath the brutal sound. Amazing return.  

8.- Malignancy "Malignant Future" EP

It’s a three song journey into the disgustingly brutal, spastically technical, and hyper-blasting focused realms of madness the group is known for cranking out with a near clinical consistency. Brutal Death Metal. 

9.- Meshuggah "The Violent Sleep Of Reason" 

The grandfather´s Djent are back, this swedish masters record "The Violent Sleep of Reason" is a freaking tour-de-force; a total deconstruction of heavy music. I considered reviewing this thing track-by-track but the album are to much amazing for send short vision. A really masterpiece here. 

10.- Avulsed "Death Generation" 

Spanish death metal legends AVULSED are celebrating the bands old scene with plus vocal guest like Massacre, Napalm Death, Vader, Autopsy, Incantation and more. Re-reissue song withs the most representative vocal´s old school. 

11.- Revocation "Great Is Our Sin" 

This album is no different as it sees the band putting out their most thrash-influenced record, the band has created easily one of 2016's best metal albums, Technical Death Metal arround this album, one intense experience. 

12.-Fallujah "Dreamless"  

Progressive Death Metal masterpiece. One best performance with technical and skills riffs, the guitars are awesome atmospheres for hear everyday. All album have melodics and brutal parts in the same style, sound equalization are perfect.  

13.- Grave Miasma "Endless Pilgrimage" EP

In terms of finest death metal this year granted us thus far, this EP is undoubtedly a TOP shelf release and another exemplary negation of primal aggressiveness and refined unconventionality representing mutually opposed traits. Death Metal in the classic vein.

14.- Abnormality "Mechanism Of Omniscience" 

Mallika Sundaramurthy and guys are back, with is a solid sophomore record for his career. It's a great mix of technicality and groove that you can really move to, and which. In the vein Brutal Death Metal for the masses.

15.- Insomnium "Winter´s Gate" 

The marriage of melody and blasting drum work is a tight one, packed with the melancholy only these Finns seem capable of injecting into such extremely heavy music. The finnish masters are back with melodic and conceptual album.

Brutality "When The Sky Turned Black" (1994) Nuclear Blast

En julio de 1994 se publicado el segundo trabajo de los oriundos de Tampa, Florida; los músicos norteamericanos Brutality se encargaron de hacernos sentir el Death Metal en todo su esplendor con éste estupendo álbum que ha pasado a la historia como uno de los clásicos del subgénero y del underground. Se titula malévolamente "When The Sky Turns Black" y la portada se asemeja más a las utilizadas por una banda de Black Metal que a una de las mayormente diseñadas para su género, en pocas palabras una verdadera obra de arte. Éste trabajo viene acompañado de la noticia de la reformación y reactivación de la banda, así como el anuncio de nuevo disco para el año 2015.

Éste trabajo se grabó en los míticos Morrisound Studios a cargo del productor y director Jim Morris, las mezclas las realizó el mismo productor en coordinación con la banda. La alineación que grabó tan espectacular álbum estuvo a cargo de Don Gates y Bryan Hipp(quien falleció en el 2006) a cargo de las poderosas guitarras; Jeff Acres en el bajo y voces secundarias; en la batería estuvo el demoledor Jim Coker y finalmente en las vocales Scott Reigel. Una formación de jóvenes hambrientos de dar a conocer su estilo de música en todas partes del mundo.

 El disco "When The Sky Turned Black"se inaugura con la canción principal, rodando ritmos de contrabajo como pilares del metal más pesado que conozcas(muy densa por la ecualización) debajo e la cual se ubican las brillantes melodías duales, que pronto se tambalean mediante un tumulto con decorativos rifs de guitarras, golpes empalmados de la batería. No es inmediatamente pegadizo, pero recoge la intensidad alrededor  del minuto 1:15 cuando el bajo vuelve a acompañar al más brutal, denso y repugnante riff que puedas haber escuchado. "Race Defects" utiliza un lugar desolado como signo distintivo, pasaje de guitarra limpia antes de su propia explosión alterna y melodías complementarias de la segunda guitarra comienzan, moviéndose a la misma velocidad relativa como la primera pista. Al igual que los gritos de angustia, hay un par de moderadamente breves pasajes instrumentales aquí en "Awakening" y "Esotéric", ambos de buen gusto y conducido por los tonos de guitarra limpia y acústicos. También han incluido un cover de "Electric Funeral" de los dioses BlackSabbath, que resulta que es un cover muy efectivo y aquí resulta como un híbrido entre el death y el doom metal.

Brutality debería haber estado mucho más allá de su asociación regional deberion ser reconocidos tanto como los más grandes del subgénero, pero este álbum finalmente terminó en el mismo asiento de la oscuridad en la que su álbum debut representó para la banda. En serio, no hay muchos registros de Death Metal de la época poseían una serie de canciones del nivel que posee ésta producción y ha conservado su esmalte y frescura a través de los años. Personalmente prefiero éste trabajo que el disco debut que posee otros parámetros de nivel musical. Éste trabajo se editó en formatos CD y digipak en aquellos años por la Nuclear Blast y recientemente por la Ceremonial Records en vinilo de lujo. 

Ojalá puedas conseguir éste trabajo en los formatos editados por la label y la misma banda, ya que con su regreso hay Brutality para unos años más. Hasta la próxima reseña amigos y amigas.
